Summer 2010: make sure
you pack your beach wear
Bright colours, sophisticated (and strategic) details, a few (but essential) accessories.
Bright colours, sophisticated (and strategic) details, a few (but essential) accessories. Whatever your holiday destination, remember that beach fashion for summer 2010 holds a touch of sophistication, reminiscent of specific places and inspirations: Deauville, Saint-Tropez, the dreamy, sophisticated atmospheres of the French seaside towns in vogue in the 1950s. A sophisticated nostalgic memory which brings back the charm and sensuality of the one-piece swimsuit, the softness of chenille beach robe, the ultra-chic playfulness of black&white spots and stripes.
The update on beach wear for the coming season has an exquisitely retro flavour, where room for a contemporary feel lies in the choice of materials including Lycra for the swimsuits and beach robes and PVC accessories.
What should we not do without, therefore, to keep in the mood of the season? A bathing suit that fits perfectly, enhancing the waistline, like the one Marina Rinaldi proposes in combination with terry beach towels and ton sur ton maxi bag for a sophisticated total look. A sophisticated beach robe, in the shape of a georgette little dress or pants, able to accompany us stylishly through the evening or to an improvised aperitif by the sea. A pair of shorts, the cult garment of this summer, very wearable, away from the beach worn with fresh, elegant linen shirts.
And on your feet? Stealing the scene for the past few seasons, wedge heels continue to give a comfortable and elegant lift. And to not lose sight of the current trends, choose a cork version or accompany them with ultraflat sandals, perfect in black and/or white, they can be worn with everything and don’t add weight to your luggage. And last but not least, take a maxi bag, to hold everything you need for a day out, including plenty of water and sun cream, as the beautiful Lizzie Miller advises in the interview in MR Characters. Among the bags of the Marina Rinaldi collection you will find some in PVC, practical and glam, ideal for protecting your things from sand and water. And with a few macro accessories – a necklace, a bracelet – you will be ready to hit the beach.
