Light fabrics and minimal detailing: the jacket is the queen of spring!

Marina Rinaldi Giorno
As soon as spring arrives, outerwear inevitably becomes much lighter. So instead of our much loved coat and down jacket that have been our faithful companions during the harsh winter months, it’s now time to find something just as important, but lighter, fresher and smarter. From the more classy to the sporty-chic types, the jacket is the perfect answer to the question: “What am I going to wear now?” by which time the sun is already shining brightly outside.
In the new Marina Rinaldi spring-summer 2012 collection there are so many proposals to match either your mood of the moment or the occasion you’ll be attending, formal, informal, daytime or evening. From the most sophisticated models of the MR Elegante collection in embroidered lace, to those that are smart & easy, you choose how to accessorise them for a very feminine and glam summer!
The nuances are even more intense and feminine like those of the MR Giorno collection offering boxy jackets to be paired with soft blouses in bright contrasting colours and long trousers to be worn with lovely patent leather court shoes, creating a very elegant harmony between the matt and shiny look.
This same collection wouldn’t be complete without one of this summer’s must-haves designed by Marina Rinaldi: the soft suede jacket in an intense shade of tobacco, absolutely perfect with anything and any moment of the day thanks to its cocoon effect. In MR Blue Label Spring we also find the same jacket in emerald-green, with flap pockets and beautiful deluxe detailing, for a ladylike modern and contemporary-chic look.

Marina Rinaldi - Blue Label Spring Collection
The man style jersey jacket is absolutely unique, very feminine, rigorous and tailorlike, to be teamed up with a delicate polka dot printed sweater and a contrast bow. This is part of the MR Blue Label Spring collection and it can also be worn over a comfortable plain coloured triacetate dress, preferably in black or white, or with a brilliant white shirt and a nice pair of jeans, for an absolutely perfect urban chic city look. High heels are a must as well as the brand-new moccasins, which are very comfortable and available in many glossy shades to brighten up your look with a touch of originality.
A seventies inspired look with a country taste is the short jacket in pekary leather and nylon to be paired with a denim total look: if you have a long ankle-length denim skirt then you might as well flaunt it by wearing a lovely pair of boots for that strong and vaguely hippie look. This jacket belongs to the MR Sport Spring collection and comes in a warm safari shade, perfect with any colour!
In summer don’t you just love the feel of fresh linen on your skin? In the MR Sport Summer collection you will find so many different solutions in this fabric which is one of summer’s ultimate musts, valued for its freshness and breathability, it’s almost like a veil on your skin. Speaking of linen, this is also a summer dedicated to the colour white: Marina Rinaldi has a selection of so many total white looks so get your head around the fact that white doesn’t make you look fat! It’s time to debunk this old cliché maybe by wearing a great outfit in heavy linen consisting in jacket, top and straight trousers to be accessorised with any colour you choose. Because white is like a colour palette that’s just waiting for your imagination to be sparked up by something special such as a lovely necklace or a colourful foulard!
Fur coat details: the new luxury of a unique and contemporary style

Marina Rinaldi - Fur Collar
In fashion, as in life, details always make a difference. It may be an original brooch, a scarf, a handbag or even just a special collar on a jacket. That’s what makes an outfit beautiful after all. It’s as if everyone’s eyes were on that single detail, absolutely perfect and original. In the new Marina Rinaldi 2011-2012 autumn-winter collection the season focus is fur, of course, very fashionable this year, not only as an outerwear but even as a the special touch adding ladylike glam and charm to the most simple look. Versatile and flexible, the fur is an iconic and essential element in a woman’s wardrobe and can today be the protagonist of so many versions and styles. The sophisticated and modern inspiration reveals a refined sensitivity, which is ideal for a self-assured cosmopolitan woman who wishes to stand out among the crowd by wearing outfits that can be personalised with unique and original details. Just like the long foulard scarf made of cashmere, silk and lapin in an extremely elegant neutral shade and the wide beige fox fur and macramé collar, so very delicate and romantic. Both symbolise a new chic-cocoon-like elegance. The fox fur piping is as always sublime and diva looking, which embellishes the edging of an important woollen stole and that of a boxy-cut lapin jacket, while the elegance of a pure camel double coat becomes even more chic thanks to this soft fox fur collar, ever so embracing and sensual. Very original and stylish are the spotted orylag stole and the detachable lapin fur and knitted collar that plays with the most elegant of colour contrasts, the combination of black&white, worn with a delicate taffeta jacket, very bon ton and at the same time, very contemporary thanks to its versatility and femininity. Perfect to wear with evening garments, the wide chinchilla-effect rex lapin collar, by far the most glamorous and important fur of all, as bright as a flash of silvery light.

Marina Rinaldi - Fur Collar
The fashionistas who believe that diamonds are a woman’s best friend, are reminded, with a very special dress, that even fur coats can be very good friends … And ironically does it by slinging a silver fox fur over the shoulders of a precious diamond printed dress. A deluxe combination that will appeal to those looking for an outfit that will not only seduce for its beauty but will also impress for its originality. The entire Marina Rinaldi collection is a synthesis between the taste for experimentation, excellent certified materials and skilled craftsmanship used to create unique garments designed specifically for a woman who wants only the very best of a wearable, cultured and modern luxury. This luxury is no longer considered an end in itself and is no longer looked upon as a status symbol, which is definitely out. So thanks to Marina Rinaldi, the fur coat becomes a dynamic outfit which sticks to contemporary rhythms and, through the search for comfort, lightness and technicality, lays down the cornerstones around which a new glamorous and sophisticated style revolve.
Bon chic bon genre: the triumph of pastel colours

Marina Rinaldi - Cerimony Dress
The symbol of contemporary urban femininity, pastel colours pleasantly enhance any look with a touch of soft, very sophisticate light.
In particular, pink for dresses and shirts with a flowing line brings new luminosity to the skin, enhanced even more by strong accessories which add more rhythm to the bon chic bon genre air these colour shades have always had in their DNA.
Pastel colours are in fact neutral shades par excellence, along with grey and white. The best in elegance, very ladylike and sophisticated, is to wear them together, in refined outfits which have an air of timeless elegance.

Cardigans, jackets and trousers in champagne effect silk, asymmetric dresses and ethereal and sophisticated trouser suits in which pink and powder tones blend with the allure of the palest wisteria to offer sublime, almost pictorial results.

In the new Marina Rinaldi collection, half-shades stop being half and take a lead role: no longer pale versions of stronger colours, but unique and totally original shades which bring out the natural beauty of every woman with class.

Cuts, proportions, masculine allure, colours… For the new season, Marina Rinaldi has completely redesigned one of the must have pieces of every woman’s wardrobe, reinterpreting it in a brand new way, with glam and original details.

From the bon ton style model in practical triacetate, tied at the waist with a great maxi bow or the more unconventional ones in the MR Sport range, fitness style, in stretch cotton jersey, with turn-up sleeves which show off delicious contrast linings. Wear with a nice pair of jeans and a t-shirt lit up with rhinestone decorations, for a very feminine fitness-chic look.

Jersey Jacket - MR Sport
And of course, the safari jacket and matching trousers become the new cult suit of the summer. The safari jacket with its colonial flavour has always been fashionable, and Marina Rinaldi proposes it in a range of shades, models and fabrics, like suede, this season’s must have, used also to create brand new jackets with extreme elegance and versatility.
The suede jacket, which comes in sporty styles with a zip, hood and detachable sleeves, or more classy with large, Hollywood-style necklines, are perfect all day long.

Contrasting the cocoon effect of suede, the gutsy feel of leather which makes a great comeback this summer, in different fashion colours, above all in black, so strong & sexy, perfect with “bad” jeans and a white jersey t-shirt for a high-impact bad girl look.
But the Marina Rinaldi jackets don’t steal the scene only for the materials used, like chenille or ramie viscose, but also for the original and elegant prints and patterns.
From the plain shades of champagne or white jackets with wide lapels and jewel buttons, to the models edged in contrast black or white, including the floral patterned jackets in many different colour shades, all very sophisticated and sensual. And the original pin stripe of the sophisticated trouser suit, almost an outfit stolen from a man’s wardrobe which Marina Rinaldi reinterprets in a totally feminine manner.

Marina Rinaldi’s Florentine Madonnas, ideals of classic and modern beauty
“Tribute to Florence” is the homage-event that the fashion brand Marina Rinaldi decided to dedicate to the Tuscany capital to celebrate the refurbishment and light restyling of its via Panzani store and to celebrate with portraits taken by the photographer Lorenzo Poccianti, the modern Tuscany Madonnas, thirteen in all, chosen from among the most distinguished personages of Florentine entrepreneurship, culture and establishments.
So we have a dual homage that just goes to show how modernity, if it is of class, can live together well with the glorious splendour of a sublime tradition.
And we find this concept time and time again as this event unfolds. Starting with the re-styling of the flagship store, so fresh and contemporary, which has known how to take into account its marvellous location, right in the heart of the town, with the large shop windows reflecting the shape of the Cathedral with the legendary Brunelleschi Dome, illuminating with its history the modernity of the Marina Rinaldi collections with an ideal bridge between past and present.
But “Tribute to Florence” is, more than anything, homage to the feminine spirit of Florence, to its aristocracy – in the etymological meaning of the word, from the Greek ‘aristoi’, the best. To be portrayed for an exhibition entitled “Florentine Madonnas” were Sabina Corsini, Lucrezia Pandolfini, Eleonora Frescobaldi, Alessia Antinori, Flavia Ruffo della Scaletta, Fabiola Zileri dal Verme, Lucrezia Carrega di Lucedio, Angelica Bucalossi, Marina Luccioli, Selvaggia Magris, Ginevra de Renzis Sonnino, Alessandra Signori Lapiccirella, President of Confcommercio and Elisabetta Cianfanelli, Councillor of Fashion and Tourism in the Borough of Florence.
So not only those of patrician families, heirs of a past that will never stop enchanting the world, but also the new extraordinary stars of a modern Renaissance, each one committed to important social and entrepreneurial work.
For his photos Lorenzo Poccianti used the magnificent frescoes of Palazzo Corsini as his backdrop, inspired by a Florentine Renaissance reread in a glam key with quotes from the Golden Hollywood Age of the 40s and 60s to portray that ideal of true, radiant, satisfying and authentic beauty which is the stylistic feature of the Marina Rinaldi brand.
On 28 April these portraits were exhibited at the Teatro Comunale during the premiere of the Florentine Maggio Musicale (“Aida” directed by the Maestro Zubin Mehta and Ferzan Ozpetek), of which Marina Rinaldi is co-sponsor for the 2011 edition. A prestigious gala dinner followed for 300 esteemed guests.

Rue Royale & Marina Rinaldi
On one side, the huge façade and columns of la Madeleine. On the other side, the imposing white palais Bourbon, looking out beyond Place della Concorde and offering a glimpse of the obelisk standing at the end of the magnificent Avenue des Champs-Élysées. Compressed between this two-fold, charming view, runs Rue Royale, the precious pearl of the Parisian rive droite, a small stretch framed by prestigious buildings contended by the big names in fashion, which will recently see the opening of the new Marina Rinaldi boutique.
At number 20, a new space, 200 m2 over two floors, will become the new reference point for the friends of Marina Rinaldi in the Ville Lumière, and beyond.
The interiors were designed by a famous Milan architecture firm to create an effective balance between classic and contemporary, a perfect marriage of the historical elegance of the buildings of the 8e arrondisement and the contemporary elegance of the MR collections.
A spectacular staircase, reminiscent of the fashion shows of yesteryear put on in the luxury “maisons” of Paris, draws in all the attention, leading up to the spacious areas on the upper floor.
We look forward to seeing you, ça va sans dire, in Paris!
