A great “first night” for the
Marina Rinaldi Denim Collection
“Wow!” The exclamation could be read on the many faces of friends and journalists around the showroom, but could also be heard even from the professionals of the Marina Rinaldi world who had been working on the collection for months. When worn, the new Denim Collection seems even fresher, seductive, elegant. In a word: sensational.
In the flagship store in corso Vittorio Emanuele, Milan, last Thursday, everything was dedicated to the launch of the collection, starting with the windows, with a special set-up praising curves with a cry of “Curvy is up!” and a total denim look which caught the eye of everyone, not only the passers-by. And inside, a constant homage to the “cloth from Genoa”, where different shaped shirts and infinite varieties of trousers in denim run in perfect harmony alongside the new Marina Rinaldi Spring Collection.
The fact that the Denim Collection offers an infinity of opportunity was also confirmed by Monika Kropfitsch, the famous stylist and the special guest of the event, who created sophisticated interpretations of jeans for Marina Rinaldi, drawing on the most charming trends of fashion history.
From the allure of Flower Power, where the denim shirt becomes a lightweight jacket worn over a floral print dress, to sophisticated 90s looks that pay tribute to the perfect marriage of jeans and leather. Or the “rockability” style, where denim is black, with an urban mood, worn with printed shirts and a jacket. Or the composed, French allure, where white (or coloured) denim brings out the best in sophistication. Have a look here: MR DenimBook Milano
Plenty of different suggestions to choose from, and you can find them all here. Lots of creations for a great “first night”, all supported by the usual happy atmosphere and enthusiasm which always marks any Marina Rinaldi event. A beauty corner was also running to offer the participants a beauty stop and some make-up advice.
And for those who couldn’t be there, here are a few photos. Waiting for the next upcoming video of the day!
Marina Rinaldi presents the new Denim Collection with Monika Kropfitsch
As sensual as Crystal Renn and as trendy as an expert fashionista. If you’re looking for the best for the new season, Marina Rinaldi has got an unmissable appointment in store for all its friends, with the new MR Denim Collection, the range dedicated to every wardrobe’s basic garment and proposed by Marina Rinaldi as the passepartout with excellent fit and unbeatable appeal.
In the boutique in Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Milan, curves and jeans – considered to be THE big fashion trend of this season – come in all kinds of unexpected and surprising shapes under the guidance of an exceptional fashion stylist, Monika Kropfitsch, who, after working on many famous outfits for fashion magazines and advertising, is now having fun tackling the MR Denim Collection, in a style exercise which offers lots of precious advice.
Because jeans, as the collection’s extraordinary interpreter, Crystal Renn, declared to Vogue.it “let women be natural and feel comfortable, which is why they’re perfect for curvy shapes.”
And Marina Rinaldi, which knows denim only too well, has made it into an extraordinary collection in which every woman can find her own perfect denim, for every curve and every situation.
To find out more, in a fun and exclusive event where you can get advice (even on make-up), the appointment is on Thursday 10 February, at 4 pm, at the Marina Rinaldi flagship store in Milan, corso Vittorio Emanuele on the corner of Galleria Passerella 2. Don’t miss it!
“Marina Rinaldi is glamour”.
That’s what Elisa D’Ospina says
“I love the comfort of Marina Rinaldi, which dresses us curvy women in a glamorous way, yet so practical at the same time”.
These are the words of Elisa D’Ospina, eclectic curvy model with noble features, communication psychologist and blogger, violinist and creator of Vogue Curvy, the latter the happy intuition of Franca Sozzani and her pro-curves, pro-diversity and pro-fashion creed which Pulitzer prize winner Robin Givhan recently spoke of in the Washington Post.
In a video which portrays her in all her splendour on Vogue.it, Elisa tells of her busy life as she walks comfortably through her home city Milan and the Marina Rinaldi flagship store, where she admires the collections, by virtue of that elegant style she says she looks for in her everyday outfits.
“I love leggings with short dresses, jeans with jackets and accessories, which I play with a lot. For big occasions, on the other hand, I prefer long dresses and high heels” Elisa says, and as a sophisticated fashion blogger reveals her secret for an impeccable outfit knowing how to recognise your strong points and make the most of them, maybe with a small accessory like a belt, which underlines the waist and makes generous hips more harmonious.
Which look won us over most in the video? The seductive total red outfit and the animal print bag in pony skin, which she uses when she goes shopping at the Marina Rinaldi store. Sophisticated, dynamic and ultratrendy. Totally Elisa.

A double appointment for
Vogue Fashion’s Night Out
T-shirt and shopping bag, it could even be a strictly limited version.
T-shirt and shopping bag, it could even be a strictly limited version. If this is the easy&chic dual concept par excellence to wear on the days we go shopping, why not make it the star also for the most fashionable night of the year when streets and stores stay open until late and the worldwide fashion capitals light up simultaneously (or almost) under sparkling and festive lights?
Marina Rinaldi has taken care of it: for the second year in a row it is participating in the Vogue Fashion’s Night Out with a limited edition of 1,000 T-shirts and an exclusive shopping bag for the clients of two symbol flagship stores: the one in Milan (9 September) in corso Vittorio Emanuele and the one in London (8 September) in Old Bond Street. A dual event to ideally represent the Marina Rinaldi fashion in the world but also a dual reason for celebrating. The VFNO will, in fact, also be the chance to celebrate the newly born MR Denim Collection, a whole line dedicated to our beloved denim and to its declinations that will be making its début in the spring of 2011 but which can be enjoyed earlier in the MR stores starting in December.
All plunged in a backdrop of multimedia layouts, music, cocktail parties and a very evocative surprise that will be revealed only at the last minute to the fashion addicted who will be taking part in the event in Milan or in the British capital. For all the others the appointment is still here, on our blog.
The countdown is now only a matter of hours…
Marina Rinaldi and Tatjana Patitz:
a history of style
The very best ideas grow from great insights.
Three Seasons ago Marina Rinaldi decided to find a special testimonial who was not just a face, but who could truly embrace, in their everyday life, the elegance and practicality that are the values of the brand. The choice was immediate, for one of the queens of the catwalk: the beautiful top model Tatjana Patitz who today is more gorgeous and intriguing than ever.
Ultra blonde, with her radiant face, her sophisticated looks and inbred elegance, Tatjana Patitz is the perfect testimonial for a brand that believes in a natural lifestyle.
Not only a stylistic choice but also a life choice that is fully shared by Tatjana who, after having been the muse of the world’s most important photographers and having conquered hundreds of covers on the most prestigious international fashion magazines, has chosen to live completely surrounded by nature with her son and her beloved horses on the family ranch in Malibu.
Brand and testimonial: a union that for Marina Rinaldi goes beyond the advertising campaign. This is the secret of the success of an image collaboration that has no equals and which, after the great success of past seasons, will continue in the next autumn-winter season too.
Have you seen the backstage video from the new autumn-winter campaign?
Tatjana Patitz, who some time ago, within the pages of Vanity Fair Italy, defined Marina Rinaldi as “a brand for real women” often wears this brand’s creations as she finds them not only glamorous, but also practical, fashionable and suited to her dynamic and sporty lifestyle.
The MACRO of Rome
according to Odile Decq
If you will be in Rome for holidays, out of all the many terraces that observe Rome from up high, there is one that opens out among the roofs of the Trieste neighbourhood, just a short walk from Villa Torlonia and from the historically decorated Coppedè buildings, settled firmly atop the old Peroni factory.
Its floors are arranged irregularly, black and shiny, forcing whoever walks to adjust their step. In the middle, a glass fountain is ready to house a veil of water while all around Plexiglas canopies and panels – one after the other – making a clean break of the surrounding baroque-type buildings and council houses. It feels like Paris but it’s a corner of the Capital. And inside MACRO is enclosed, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome, which was shown to us for a few days as a preview awaiting the official opening which should be in autumn.
The architect who saw to the extension, Odile Decq – yes her, French – thought of it as an interlaced design of ramps and stairs beginning inside the yard of the old building and winding up amongst the various floors until it meets up in a common space, a kind of square, which can also be reached without going to the museum, where you can stay, walk through and enjoy the views the district has in store for you. A moving space, in its shape and in its intentions, that wishes to evoke the sensations of a walk through the old part of Rome and be a creative laboratory at the same time.
However, all attempts to compare it to MAXXI, an exercise (for better or for worse) that many delighted in – considering the closeness of their birth – have absolutely no meaning. If not for the fact they were both signed by two women, completely different in style and culture but both obstinate, smart and capable, to which the difficult task was given to bring Contemporary Art to Rome. And now, (or rather from next autumn) all you have to do is walk out on a terrace to have a taste.
Where and when? MACRO, Rome, via Reggio Emilia, 54. Tuesday-Sunday 9am -7pm.
