The new Marina Rinaldi it bag combines to perfection all that is modern and sophisticated allure.

The Croco bag, with its refined appeal, is the fashion detail of an always up to date and very feminine look. Perfect under a trench and with Marina Rinaldi’s new triacetate trouser suits, it’s absolutely chic with a lovely foulard in matching colour knotted round the handles or even with a soft fox collar on those important occasions.
MR Voyage & the exclusive V10 project
The Voyage range by Marina Rinaldi is 10 years old and is celebrating
this important goal with the V10 project.
A project that unites design and excellence with the revival of cult garments offered over the years by this glam & sporty range that has skillfully created a perfect blend of elegance and practicality.
In the new autumn-winter 2010-11 collection by Marina Rinaldi, which you can admire exclusively on the VivaSwag website, you will find the exclusive celebratory t-shirt with the numbers one to nine printed on a white background and a separate V10 logo embroidered in rhinestones. Very easy chic, especially when matched with a lovely cardigan in silk and wool and softly flowing pants.
Of all the unforgettable garments re-launched exclusively by the V10 project one that stands out in particular is the “Voyage Jacket” offered in a special limited edition in the new Marina Rinaldi autumn-winter 2010-11 collection.
This jacket, in black triacetate with details in white nylon, was part of the Voyage collection for spring-summer 2004 in the advertising campaign that saw top model Carrè Otis as its testimonial, and immediately became a must. Perfect all day long and always up-to-date thanks to its trapeze line and precious details, the “Voyage Jacket”, has a zip effect at the front that allows the neckline of the jacket to be adjusted as desired, with that awareness and casual mood that are the stylistic feature of the Marina Rinaldi Voyage range.
V10 offers it once more with an updated design, with finishes that are even more precious and an excellent fit which today, just like yesterday, make it a timeless must.
Navy blue is the fashion colour
this season!
Symbol of balance and elegance, navy blue sprints ahead in this new season in all its modern classic beauty.
The colour of the ocean is the new fashion nuance, with its fresh bon ton appeal. For those who have no love for extreme and absolute colours, navy blue has substituted classic black for quite some time now: refined during the day and elegant in the evening, this particular nuance opposes the aristocratic black total look thanks to its sporty-chic allure.
And yet they are so much alike that they are often confused. The name “navy blue” originates from a particular type of blue, very dark, used for the uniforms of the British Royal Navy since 1748 and later adopted by almost all Navies the world over. This is why navy blue is also called “bleu marine”, instantly conjuring up a picture of the sea and summer … and yet there is no colour like blue that befits a casual but refined winter look. It’s just as chic as black but less demanding: in the day it’s always elegant, in the evening it’s instantly ladylike.
Highly versatile, intense and glamorous, in the new Marina Rinaldi autumn-winter collection you can see it being used for important outerwear items like the duffle coat photographed for the cover of the new MR Characters and worn by the splendid Tatjana Patitz: it will be one of the must-haves of this season. In fact, at long last one of the great wardrobe classics is back – so warm and sporty, with that absolutely British aplomb, reinterpreted in a feminine key.
Navy blue will also be the star for the Marina Rinaldi jeans with a great number of models in dark colours and an excellent fit. Perfect to match with white shirts, soft cashmere or pure wool cardigans with a practical drawstring at the hem to define the volume just as you like. For a casual metropolitan-chic look.
Autumn…in Jeans!
They haven’t always had the charming personality that they boast today or even the noble origins of those who have passed amongst the brocades of great dressmakers. But fashion also has its fairytales of Cinderellas that become princesses.
So here we have jeans, the humble work wear of American miners and Italian sailors in the second half of the nineteenth century, which, after having adorned the legs of cowboys in the Wild West and represented the teenage revolution of the fifties (does James Dean ring a bell?), have earned the right to take their place in the fashion Empyrean to become an inalienable fetish in any wardrobe.
If you don’t have any, then it is time to get some. Because if jeans were one of the must haves for summer 2010, then winter will be no different. Multitasking and comfortable, for the new season the only change will be to abandon the shades of indigo to leave room for darker colours as well as cooler shades of grey and black, but the character, modesty, sex appeal and simplicity will continue to make them the ideal garment for any occasion.
If fashion seems to have stopped imposing reference models, the only real must in the choice of jeans is that they make us feel good and give us that sense of freedom that is at their very core. The green light goes to the boot-cut, slightly flared at the bottom (originally to allow them to be worn over boots), that balance the size of the hips to give a harmonious figure. Or the straight legs with their sophisticated, elegant lines and the tighter models, slightly skinny and stretchy, perfect when paired with loose shirts and flowing cardigans.
If you are looking for maximum comfort then opt for the loose and relaxed lines of the boyfriend fit, of masculine inspiration but with a surprisingly feminine allure, to be worn with wide turn-ups at the ankle and large jackets. And not forgetting the perfect union that has existed for years between jeans and white shirts: a quick and easy choice that is chic and low profile, which with a few centimetres of heel suits more formal situations.
Like any self-respecting cult garment – like the little black dress and white shirts – this much loved denim item always has a place in Marina Rinaldi collections which, during the next season will even see it take centre stage, expressed not only in an infinite number of versions that will be difficult to choose from, but also in an event at the flagship store in Milan during Vogue-Fashion’s Night Out. We’ll keep you posted!
Marina Rinaldi and Tatjana Patitz:
a history of style
The very best ideas grow from great insights.
Three Seasons ago Marina Rinaldi decided to find a special testimonial who was not just a face, but who could truly embrace, in their everyday life, the elegance and practicality that are the values of the brand. The choice was immediate, for one of the queens of the catwalk: the beautiful top model Tatjana Patitz who today is more gorgeous and intriguing than ever.
Ultra blonde, with her radiant face, her sophisticated looks and inbred elegance, Tatjana Patitz is the perfect testimonial for a brand that believes in a natural lifestyle.
Not only a stylistic choice but also a life choice that is fully shared by Tatjana who, after having been the muse of the world’s most important photographers and having conquered hundreds of covers on the most prestigious international fashion magazines, has chosen to live completely surrounded by nature with her son and her beloved horses on the family ranch in Malibu.
Brand and testimonial: a union that for Marina Rinaldi goes beyond the advertising campaign. This is the secret of the success of an image collaboration that has no equals and which, after the great success of past seasons, will continue in the next autumn-winter season too.
Have you seen the backstage video from the new autumn-winter campaign?
Tatjana Patitz, who some time ago, within the pages of Vanity Fair Italy, defined Marina Rinaldi as “a brand for real women” often wears this brand’s creations as she finds them not only glamorous, but also practical, fashionable and suited to her dynamic and sporty lifestyle.
The MACRO of Rome
according to Odile Decq
If you will be in Rome for holidays, out of all the many terraces that observe Rome from up high, there is one that opens out among the roofs of the Trieste neighbourhood, just a short walk from Villa Torlonia and from the historically decorated Coppedè buildings, settled firmly atop the old Peroni factory.
Its floors are arranged irregularly, black and shiny, forcing whoever walks to adjust their step. In the middle, a glass fountain is ready to house a veil of water while all around Plexiglas canopies and panels – one after the other – making a clean break of the surrounding baroque-type buildings and council houses. It feels like Paris but it’s a corner of the Capital. And inside MACRO is enclosed, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome, which was shown to us for a few days as a preview awaiting the official opening which should be in autumn.
The architect who saw to the extension, Odile Decq – yes her, French – thought of it as an interlaced design of ramps and stairs beginning inside the yard of the old building and winding up amongst the various floors until it meets up in a common space, a kind of square, which can also be reached without going to the museum, where you can stay, walk through and enjoy the views the district has in store for you. A moving space, in its shape and in its intentions, that wishes to evoke the sensations of a walk through the old part of Rome and be a creative laboratory at the same time.
However, all attempts to compare it to MAXXI, an exercise (for better or for worse) that many delighted in – considering the closeness of their birth – have absolutely no meaning. If not for the fact they were both signed by two women, completely different in style and culture but both obstinate, smart and capable, to which the difficult task was given to bring Contemporary Art to Rome. And now, (or rather from next autumn) all you have to do is walk out on a terrace to have a taste.
Where and when? MACRO, Rome, via Reggio Emilia, 54. Tuesday-Sunday 9am -7pm.
The New-Jersey
Malleable and pliable, extra slim or heavy, elegant but discreet.
Hands up who doesn’t have at least one in their wardrobe. From the courageous experiments at the beginning of the century up to the present day, jersey has branched out on different paths. We’ve seen it taking shape in slinky evening dresses (certainly the marvellous one-piece jumpsuit signed Marina Rinaldi isn’t the last!), becoming a loyal ally of our leisure time, bestowing us with the comfort of almost impalpable underwear. Never a failure – at most a tremor – and there it is, impeccable, back in its place. Its non-noble origins of a heavy knitted fabric, soft and naturally elastic, used by fishermen on the English island of Jersey, probably didn’t give it the chance to reveal its noble qualities at first glance. But with time, even fashion came to love its flexibility and to search for increasingly elegant ways to exploit it by blending yarns of cotton, wool, viscose and elastam. Until it became a must-have fabric, by those who wear it and the stylists, always ready to decline it in their collections.
Now Marina Rinaldi proposes it in infinite variations, from the chenille jersey tracksuits, icon of comfortable elegance to wear with fresh T-shirts (in jersey too of course!), to ultrachic and bon ton dresses to wear all day long and on all occasions, that slide over the body, redesigning the figure. And if you’re about to leave for your holidays (lucky you!), it’s unquestionably the most strategic fabric to go for: it is lightweight, it breathes and is absorbent, it doesn’t crease much (if at all) and returns to its original look with the same ease. Perfect inside and outside the suitcase, now’s the best time to buy a stock! And you’ll have an irreplaceable companion all summer long.
Summer 2010 marks the big
comeback of the wedge heel!
From the catwalks of the great fashion houses to the shop windows in town, you just can’t miss
how much the wedge heel is making a big fashion comeback this summer.
Even though they haven’t really left the female wardrobe since the Forties. Not just comfortable, with their ergonomic, structured line, wedge heels are an accessory which gives that extra touch to our look, enriching any outfit with their punchy, carefree appeal. The few extra inches in height help us to slim the silhouette and not only make the ankles look thinner but really are the most suitable footwear for facing the summer, the true casual alternative to the classic high heel.
Wedge heels combine functionality, glamour and height and this summer you will find many different models around, all very comfortable and with an unmistakeable design, like the ones proposed by Marina Rinaldi in natural and neutral colours and materials, including soft suede, croc-print calfskin and napa leather. And with so many different styles, from the most sporty chic, to peep toe and to more glam models with Seventies-appeal cork heel.
In the summer they are perfect all day long, especially during the day worn with comfy jeans or a Forties-style longuette skirt, just like in the wedge heel boom years. Or for a perfect navy style look, worn with comfy shorts and cropped stretch cotton pants. In the evening, they are perfect for casual occasions with flared skirts and dresses with flowing lines for a relaxed yet always very feminine look.
Or under an easy chic outfit, a nice pair of jeans and a sparkling effect top. Very glam and up to date!
Summer 2010: make sure
you pack your beach wear
Bright colours, sophisticated (and strategic) details, a few (but essential) accessories.
Bright colours, sophisticated (and strategic) details, a few (but essential) accessories. Whatever your holiday destination, remember that beach fashion for summer 2010 holds a touch of sophistication, reminiscent of specific places and inspirations: Deauville, Saint-Tropez, the dreamy, sophisticated atmospheres of the French seaside towns in vogue in the 1950s. A sophisticated nostalgic memory which brings back the charm and sensuality of the one-piece swimsuit, the softness of chenille beach robe, the ultra-chic playfulness of black&white spots and stripes.
The update on beach wear for the coming season has an exquisitely retro flavour, where room for a contemporary feel lies in the choice of materials including Lycra for the swimsuits and beach robes and PVC accessories.
What should we not do without, therefore, to keep in the mood of the season? A bathing suit that fits perfectly, enhancing the waistline, like the one Marina Rinaldi proposes in combination with terry beach towels and ton sur ton maxi bag for a sophisticated total look. A sophisticated beach robe, in the shape of a georgette little dress or pants, able to accompany us stylishly through the evening or to an improvised aperitif by the sea. A pair of shorts, the cult garment of this summer, very wearable, away from the beach worn with fresh, elegant linen shirts.
And on your feet? Stealing the scene for the past few seasons, wedge heels continue to give a comfortable and elegant lift. And to not lose sight of the current trends, choose a cork version or accompany them with ultraflat sandals, perfect in black and/or white, they can be worn with everything and don’t add weight to your luggage. And last but not least, take a maxi bag, to hold everything you need for a day out, including plenty of water and sun cream, as the beautiful Lizzie Miller advises in the interview in MR Characters. Among the bags of the Marina Rinaldi collection you will find some in PVC, practical and glam, ideal for protecting your things from sand and water. And with a few macro accessories – a necklace, a bracelet – you will be ready to hit the beach.
Summer time, Party time:
the elegance of details
Let’s party!
Opportunities to meet with friends and acquaintances to celebrate important events increase as the warm season arrives. Of course, depending on the time and tone of the ceremony, you need to choose a look in harmony with the event. During the day, it is better to focus on neutral colours, above all in the summer. In this case, you can add a special touch with a pretty stole, maybe in a delicate transparent fabric, especially for a religious ceremony where necklines need to be elegantly covered.
The more important the event you are invited to, the more detailed your outfit can be. To enhance a rigorously tailored dress, match it to an important outer garment, such as a jacket with a couture corolla collar, closed with a jewel button or entirely embroidered with multicolour sequins.
And if the dress itself is very precious, with embroidered edges and neckline, the outer garment must have an essential design, to avoid an overdressed effect. In this case, what better than the classic blazer.
As usual, accessories play a huge part in putting the final touches to any look. If the dress is already ornate, the bag and shoes must have a linear, clean line. Vice versa, if the dress is rigorously tailored, like a sheath or a little black dress, you can match it with important accessories to enhance its line or style.
For those who prefer trousers to dresses, focus on pants with a flowing line. The glam touch is given by an important blouse, in plain colours enriched with luminous decorations, or patterned, animal or floral (page 12 of Bookeventi), with an elegant bow at the waist.
For an evening ceremony, be charmed by the colour and glamour of sequins on a splendid Empire dress with a completely embroidered bodice. If the occasion is more formal, go for the classic little black dress or the now-you-see-it-now-you-don’t effect of dresses with edges and sleeves decorated by charming couture petals.
Because, as you all know, elegance lies in the details…
